Main Rooms of the Old Monastery
These are the two main rooms of the old monastery where the nuns lived when they first returned to Carmel at Port Tobacco. The top photo is located in the two story building and the lower photo is located in the smaller building which originally was the infirmary.
These rooms (weather permitting) are currently used for Restorer meetings and receptions for Pilgrimages and Annual Retreats and other special occasions. In the top photo group tours are also given here. The room accommodates 40 people seated.

A group of 30 people with the David Wendt Tours from Steubenville, Ohio, pose for this picutre on Friday morning, 26 April 2002, two days before a tornado hit the area. This was a beautiful day and there was no sign of the deadly storm which struck on Sunday evening, the 28th of April 2002. The building escaped with minor damage.
A group of 25 people from St. Philip the Apostle Parish, Camp Springs, MD visit the historic buildings on 29 May 2003. Fr. Charles McCann, front row center is pastor.

Original 1790 monastery buildings restored and the new chapel. Historical site of the First Monastery of Discalced Carmelite Nuns as well as First Convent to be founded in the original thirteen Colonies.

Fr. Ed O'Connell, SJ, Restorer Chaplain, celebrates Mass in the monastery chapel, ending the 2nd Annual Mini-Retreat. Mark Leopold, retreat giver, assists.
Fr. David Beaubien and Fr. Robert Pittman, S.S.S. concelebrate the Annual Pilgrimage Mass in the monastery chapel.
Place: Mount Carmel Monastery Chapel and Historic Mount Carmel Buildings on Mount Carmel Road in La Plata.
Time: 8:00 a.m. Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel.
Day One Prayers of the Novena to the Little Flower will be said at the Conclusion of the Mass.
