Welcome Back, Saint Thérèse!
On October 5, 1999, The Discalced Carmelite Nuns of the Carmel of Port Tobacco welcomed the Major Relics of Saint Therese for an overnight visit. Their monastery was the first stop of the first visit of the Saint to the United States. Unlike small relics of saints, which are usually tiny fragments of bones, major relics are several entire bones housed in the shrine shown above.
The Nuns never dreamed that this privilege would be repeated in our life times, but the miracle has happened and the relics are coming again. This time they have arranged for a three-day stay. Please plan to stop in to pray for the intercession of our Saint and to thank her for remembering that she is always welcome here.
